Vacation Bible School

2018 Vacation Bible School

Bible School was held July 8-10 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Ages 4 through grade 5.

Springs Mennonite Church – 1686 Springs Road, Springs, PA 15562

This year’s theme: Peace Lab Discovering God’s Way of Peace

This year saw a return to a traditional structured Bible School for ages Pre-K – through 5th grade on July 8, 9, and 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
We used MennoMedia curriculum entitled; Peace Lab- Discovering God’s Way of Peace. Everyone gathered downstairs which was decorated
with a camping theme. Julia Tice led us with examples of peacemakers through the Bible and ways to
incorporate this into our own lives. Our memory verse was: Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth. Ken and Diana Detrick
did a drama each evening which both entertained and reinforced what we were being taught. Then, Ron Beitzel led us in fun songs. After large group,
we were divided by age level into two groups. We made a craft and made a food craft which we ate. Then Luann and Robert Yutzy did fun outdoor
activities with us. The evening ended with large group where we talked about what we learned and sang a couple songs.

Our offering of $270.50 went to GLOW (Go Light Our World) which has ties to our congregation though the Beitzel family. The organization is
dedicated to diminishing poverty with solar solutions. They strive to cultivate compassion for the Earth and all living beings through authentic
acts of selfless service. The first night of Bible School Felix Kioko talked about some of the projects GLOW is working on in Africa. We learned a lot
this year while having fun. We’re thankful for the support from the congregation and all the volunteers. Eighteen children attended.

Thank you to the inspired, creative and dedicated volunteers who helped to make our Bible School a success as we learned about God’s way of peace.
